Rapid Response: How We Resolved a Sudden Stop on a Komori 28” Offset Press
Do you own or operate an offset printing press?
If you do, then you’ve probably experienced the irritation (and costliness) of delay time due to web breaks, aborted starts and mechanical or electronic problems. Press time ain’t cheap and the clock is ticking!
ACS can help with the printing press electronic problems as we recently did with a Maryland-based print communications company when their Komori 28″ Printing Press stopped running with a loud bang.
The problem was identified as a damaged Baldwin circuit board and, with the back-up circuit board also damaged, the press was officially down. Serious bad news.
The press owner sent ACS both boards for rush repairs and not only were the boards damaged, they had also been recipients of a previous botched repair job. Not a good beginning for a fast repair.
However, the experienced ACS tech team was able to get both boards successfully repaired fast and without disturbing the software on the boards. Here’s what the customer had to say:
“Thanks – the board is working well , the press is running again – great job ! Have a nice weekend. – Mark
As for non-electronic web breaks and aborted start problems? Let us recommend consistent preventive maintenance and thorough operator training – you can’t go wrong with either…on just about any piece of machinery!
