Pratt & Whitney Expands Operations in Oklahoma, Adding 100+ Jobs and Modernizing F135 Engine Maintenance
Pratt & Whitney has announced a substantial investment to expand its military aftermarket services in Oklahoma. The multimillion‑dollar upgrade will enhance existing facilities at the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex on Tinker Air Force Base, creating more than 100 new jobs over the coming years.
"Pratt & Whitney has a long‑standing partnership with Oklahoma City and the state of Oklahoma," said Kevin Kirkpatrick, vice president for military engines sustainment operations. "This expansion gives us access to a talented workforce that will help us deliver on our customer commitments. Oklahoma City has been an excellent municipal partner, and we are pleased to grow our operations here."
Over the past 15 years, Pratt & Whitney’s presence in Oklahoma City has grown alongside the increasing sustainment demands at Tinker AFB, supporting a dozen engine types. The latest expansion will enable the depot‑level maintenance of the F135 engine fleet, which is projected to double in the next three years.
The collaboration with the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex allows Pratt & Whitney and the U.S. Air Force to conduct depot maintenance on F117, F119, and F135 engines, as well as specialized technology coatings. Pratt & Whitney manages overall operations, technical support, and materials, while the Air Force provides skilled mechanics and extensive back‑shop capabilities.
