New Book: The OEE Primer – Mastering Equipment Effectiveness, Reliability & Maintainability

A powerful framework for boosting system reliability, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) has become indispensable for cutting unscheduled downtime worldwide. It is now a cornerstone of quality improvement and a mandatory subject for ISO/TS 16949 certification.

Dr. D. H. Stamatis’ latest work, The OEE Primer: Understanding Overall Equipment Effectiveness, Reliability and Maintainability (ISBN 9781439814062, retail $54.95), demystifies OEE from its historical roots to cutting‑edge techniques. The book introduces innovative tools such as hazard analysis, Rate of Change of Failure (ROCOF) analysis, failure‑rate finite‑element analysis (FEA), and the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ). It also covers loss of effectiveness, new equipment evaluation, electrical maintenance, Weibull distribution, measurement methods, and both mechanical and electrical reliability.

With a classical foundation, the primer explains exactly what OEE is and how to deploy it to resolve capacity challenges. Mechanical and electrical opportunities are highlighted throughout, supported by tables, forms, and real‑world examples that bring theory into practice.
