GlaxoSmithKline Awards Johnson Controls 5-Year Global Facilities Management Contract
On May 6, Johnson Controls Global Workplace Solutions announced that it has won a five‑year, global contract to provide comprehensive workplace services to pharmaceutical and healthcare leader GlaxoSmithKline (GSK).
The agreement extends an 18‑year partnership during which Johnson Controls has served as GSK’s primary facility services provider. Initially, the contract will cover GSK sites across North and South America, Europe, and China, with additional locations slated for inclusion through a managed rollout as they become ready.
Johnson Controls will deliver a full spectrum of workplace services—including technical and engineering support, energy management, project management, and specialized pharmaceutical services—for GSK’s research & development, manufacturing, and corporate offices.
With headquarters in the United Kingdom and a global footprint, GSK is a market leader in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry. Through this contract, Johnson Controls is helping GSK achieve its strategic priority of “simplifying the operating model” by delivering services that adapt to shifts in GSK’s business model.
“Johnson Controls has had the privilege of supporting GSK for 18 years,” said Guy Holden, Vice President and General Manager, Global Workplace Solutions. “This new contract is a milestone that expands our partnership and enables us to deliver workplace solutions that directly contribute to GSK’s business success. Our proven track record in regulated life‑science environments was a key factor in being selected.”
John Summers, Vice President and General Manager of Life Sciences, Global Workplace Solutions, added: “We are delighted to partner with GSK on a global scale. The contract expands our presence in the United Kingdom and the United States and deepens our operations in emerging markets such as Brazil and China. As GSK evolves its global services model, our growth opportunities will continue to expand.”
Services under the new contract will commence in the summer of 2010.
