Army Extends Honeywell TIGER Program Through Option Year 5, Adding $190 M to $1.5 B Contract
Honeywell announced July 29 that its Total Integrated Engine Revitalization (TIGER) program with the U.S. Army has been extended through Option Year 5, with a not‑to‑exceed value of $190 million, bringing the total contract value to more than $1.5 billion since the original award.
"The TIGER program is more than just parts and logistics services for the AGT1500 gas turbine engine that powers the M1 Abrams family of vehicles; it is a continuous improvement program that enhances engine durability while reducing operating and support costs," said Paul Vidano, vice president of Militaries & Operators, Honeywell Aerospace.
The Abrams TIGER program exemplifies successful public‑private partnership. It covers parts, engineering, depot and field support services, enabling Anniston Army Depot (ANAD) to reset 505 AGT1500 engines and conduct sustainment repairs on up to 90 engines using a Condition‑Based Overhaul (CBO) process.
Under TIGER, the AGT1500 engine’s configuration, field use, and maintenance history are tracked and analyzed, allowing depot maintenance to be performed on an evidence‑of‑need basis rather than relying on full overhauls.
TIGER has proven highly effective in forecast planning, ordering, warehousing, part kitting, and point‑of‑use delivery, ensuring a steady supply of quality parts to support ANAD’s engine R&O schedule. The program also includes engineering support, field repair assistance, data collection and analysis, and comprehensive program management.
Honeywell also supplies additional equipment for the M1 Abrams, including engine controls, navigation systems, generators, and control units.
