Penske Earns ASE Certification for Comprehensive Vehicle Maintenance Training Program
Penske Truck Leasing has been awarded the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification for its Continuing Automotive Service Education (CASE) program. Penske is the first and only truck leasing, rental, and logistics provider to achieve this distinction.
The ASE‑approved CASE program is designed to elevate the expertise of Penske’s 5,000 U.S. vehicle maintenance technicians and customer service representatives, who collectively service over 200,000 vehicles nationwide. The three‑tiered curriculum blends web‑based modules, hands‑on workshops, and classroom instruction. Penske plans to roll out the fully certified CASE training company‑wide within the next 18 months.
"The automotive community applauds Penske’s commitment to an exceptional in‑house technician training program," said Tim Zilke, President of ASE.
In addition to the new CASE initiative, Penske’s technicians typically receive 40 hours of targeted training each year, ensuring continuous skill enhancement and adherence to industry best practices.
Mark Oliver, Senior Vice President for Field Maintenance at Penske Truck Leasing, emphasized the program’s importance in today’s marketplace: "Maximizing vehicle performance and safety for our customers is at the heart of our efforts to have the industry’s best‑trained technicians. Improving the qualifications and skills of our people is central to meeting this objective," he said.
Ken Coots, Senior Vice President for Maintenance Services, highlighted the recruitment advantage of CASE: "Vehicle technicians are in high demand, and our program offers an excellent pathway for career advancement. Providing techs with cutting‑edge training that keeps pace with evolving engine and vehicle technologies is an invaluable asset for recruiting and retaining top talent," he added.
