Day & Zimmermann Secures 3-Year Maintenance Contract for Palo Verde Nuclear Station
Day & Zimmermann has announced the award of a three‑year maintenance contract by Arizona Public Service Company (APS) to support operations at the Palo Verde Nuclear Generation Station near Phoenix. Mobilization is underway for a scheduled start in January 2015.
“This is a significant contract for Day & Zimmermann,” said Guy Starr, president of DZ Atlantic. “We are excited to deepen our partnership with APS, add value to Palo Verde, and create new opportunities for our team.”
APS, Arizona’s largest and longest‑serving electricity utility, serves almost 1.2 million customers across 11 of the state’s 15 counties. The Palo Verde plant, operated by APS, is jointly owned by APS, Salt River Project, Southern California Edison, El Paso Electric, Public Service Company of New Mexico, Southern California Public Power Authority, and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
“We anticipate a strong, mutually beneficial relationship with Day & Zimmermann that will continue to improve our processes, reduce costs, and strategically position us to safely and efficiently generate electricity for the long term,” said Bob Bement, senior vice president of operations at Palo Verde.
