Kontron and SYSGO introduce SAFe‑VX, a safety‑critical computing platform that brings together Kontron’s proven COTS hardware with SYSGO’s PikeOS real‑time operating system. The joint development delivers a turnkey solution that can be switched to a SIL‑certified configuration, ensuring compliance with IEC 61508 for electronic safety systems.

PikeOS is the only real‑time OS that has earned a Common Criteria EAL 3+ certifiable kernel. Its strict partitioning provides true task segregation, allowing functional safety and IT security to coexist within a single system.

The platform’s VPX‑based, modular architecture accelerates time‑to‑market and cuts total cost of ownership. Compact 19″ 4U chassis make SAFe‑VX ideal for rolling‑stock and station/wayside applications, withstanding wide temperature ranges, EMC/EMI limits, shock and vibration typical of railway environments.
