STMicroelectronics’ STSafe‑A100 Evaluation Kit: Accelerate Secure IoT Development

STMicroelectronics’ STSafe‑A100 evaluation pack, part of the STM32 Nucleo ecosystem, delivers ready‑to‑use source code that accelerates the design of secure IoT devices, industrial accessories, and consumer electronics. The kit bundles the STSW‑STSA100 software package with the X‑Nucleo‑STSA100 expansion board, which houses an on‑board STSafe‑A100 secure element.
The STSafe‑A100 secure element is engineered for resilience against cyber‑attacks. It offers immutable, hardware‑based authentication and secure data‑management services, powered by a CC EAL5+ certified secure microcontroller. The element runs a dedicated secure operating system and supports symmetric and asymmetric cryptography, advanced key management, and built‑in safeguards against physical and side‑channel attacks.
Accompanying the evaluation pack is a comprehensive software bundle that includes device drivers, STM32 firmware, and STSafe‑A100 source code tailored for scenarios such as brand protection, device enrollment, and secure cloud connectivity. By pairing the STSafe‑A100 with any STM32 Nucleo board, designers can integrate the secure element with a wide range of microcontrollers, sensors, and actuators, protecting products from simple IoT endpoints to industrial control systems, wearables, and mobile accessories.
The evaluation kit is available for $35. The STSW‑STSA100 software package is free and can be downloaded from www.st.com/stsw-stsa100.
