TE Connectivity’s MS5839‑02BA: Chlorine‑Resistant Sensor for Precise Temperature & Pressure in Swim Watches
The TE Connectivity MS5839‑02BA is a gel‑filled, 24‑bit delta‑sigma ADC pressure sensor engineered for environments containing chlorine and salt. Its compact ceramic‑metal package (3.3 × 3.3 × 2.75 mm) makes it ideal for swim watches, fitness trackers, underwater vehicles, and diving gear.
Operating at 300–1200 mbar (extended 10–2000 mbar) and –20 °C to +85 °C, the sensor delivers pressure accuracy within ±0.5 mbar and temperature precision of ±2 °C. These specifications ensure reliable data in the demanding conditions of aquatic sports.
The device consumes as little as 0.6 µA (≤0.1 µA in standby at 25 °C) when powered from 1.5 to 3.6 V, enabling long‑term battery life. Its I²C interface supports five core commands—reset, read PROM, D1 conversion, D2 conversion, and read 24‑bit ADC result—providing seamless integration with microcontrollers.
