Epsilon Composite, headquartered in Gaillan en Médoc, France, has exceeded 100,000 units of carbon‑fiber tubes produced with its patented K1 technology. This milestone underscores the company’s evolution from a pultrusion specialist to a leader in integrated filament winding, delivering large‑diameter composites that combine superior longitudinal stiffness, optimized weight, and precise geometry.

The K1 process merges filament winding with pultruded longitudinal reinforcements, enabling the manufacture of tubes up to 800 mm in diameter and 12 m in length. These structures achieve exceptional dimensional stability and high bending resistance, with longitudinal modulus values reaching 400 GPa.

Beyond K1, Epsilon offers comprehensive filament‑winding services tailored to a spectrum of technical demands. Whether the application requires ultra‑high‑modulus (UHM) carbon fibers for maximum stiffness, or a more conventional architecture for cost efficiency, the company can adapt the design and materials accordingly.

Epsilon’s expertise spans the entire product development cycle: from initial customer analysis and composite architecture definition to fiber and resin selection, ply orientation optimization, mechanical sizing, numerical simulation, prototype development, qualification testing, and serial production industrialization. Our engineering team collaborates closely with clients to meet specific stiffness, weight, dynamic performance, geometric precision, environmental, and qualification requirements.

The company also handles all critical post‑processing steps, including precision machining, grinding with dynamic run‑out tolerances of 5 µm, dynamic balancing, assembly, and surface treatments customized to each application’s needs.

These advanced tubes are ideal for technical rollers used in film and flexible material conversion, printing, coating, and processing industries, as well as for high‑performance components in the yachting sector.

“Epsilon Composite has been recognized for nearly 40 years as a carbon pultrusion specialist, a core competency that now expands through filament winding. The 100,000‑tube milestone demonstrates our industrial maturity and the ability to scale a sophisticated composite architecture into a fully controlled serial production line, backed by nondestructive testing, meticulous finishing, repeatability, and the quality standards demanded by our industrial customers,” says Alexandre Lull, deputy CEO.
