EN 12166 Grade CuZn39Pb3 H08 – Lead-Added Brass for Enhanced Machinability and Corrosion Resistance
Material CuZn39Pb3, mat. No. CW614N, is an unhardenable wrought alloy. to the comparable make CuZn39Pb3, mat. No. 2.0401 acc. to DIN 17660 : 1983-12 applies: High hardness and strength parameter are achievable by cold forming only. Thermal and electrical conductivity are lower than for unleaded brass of the same Zn-content. Machinability is improved by Pb-addition. Corrosion resistance to water, several saline solutions and organic liquids is also lower than for unleaded alloys of the same zinc-content. Processing properties: warm forming: very good cold forming: unfavorable machinability: very good hard soldering: moderately soft soldering: very good TIG-welding: unfavorable burnishing: very good Application: Main alloy of the brass materials for machining on automats. Use for all types of form turning parts, in precision engineering as well as in watch and electrical industry.
