EN 12166 Grade CuZn40Pb2 H08: Unhardenable Wrought Alloy with Enhanced Machinability
Material CuZn40Pb2, mat. No. CW617N, is an unhardenable wrought alloy. to the comparable make CuZn40Pb2, mat. No. 2.0402 acc. to DIN 17660 : 1983-12 applies: High hardness and strength parameter are achievable by cold forming only. Thermal and electrical conductivity are lower than for CuZn40. Machinability is improved by Pb-addition. Corrosion resistance to water, several saline solutions and organic liquids is also lower than for unleaded alloys of the same zinc-content. Processing properties: warm forming: very good cold forming: unfavorable machinability: very good hard soldering: moderately soft soldering: very good TIG-welding: unfavorable burnishing: very good Application: for hot-pressed components, turned parts for precision engineering and optics, circuit boards and clockwerks as well as for clamps for electrical engineering.
