DIN 17440 Grade X14CrMoS17 – Quenched & Tempered Stainless Steel for Pressure Vessels & Structural Components
The material X14CrMoS17 is used acc. DIN 17440 : 1996-09 for rods (for pressure vessels), forgings and drawn wire. For the application acc. DIN 17440 : 1985-07 (X 12 CrMoS 17) resp. acc. DIN EN 10088-1,-2,-3 : 1995-08 (X14CrMoS17) applies: stainless free-cutting steel used in the quenched and tempered condition for construction parts like screws, nuts, fittings, axles, bolts, spindles in water, steam and weak alkaline and neutral media as well as for solenoid valves. Because of the S-content the corrosion resistance is comparable to an steel with 13% Cr.
