X17CrNi16-2 Grade – DIN 17440 Quenched & Tempered (QT) Steel for High-Performance Applications
The material X17CrNi16-2, mat. no. 1.4057, is used acc. DIN 17440 : 1996-09 for rods (for pressure vessels), forgings and drawn wire. For the application acc. DIN 17440 : 1985-07 (X 20 CrNi 17 2) resp. acc. DIN EN 10088-1,-2,-3 : 1995-08 (X17CrNi16-2) applies: The quench and temperable grade (17 % Cr) is good resistant to weak lyes and acids, stronger oxidising acids (e.g. nitric acid), water and steam. It is used for high loaded machine parts like pumps and compressors, ship building, food and cosemtic and acetic acid industry. The steel has good running properties and a good wear resistance and is high polishable. Sliding between parts with different conditions should be avoided because of seizing.
