SAMPE Celebrates 75 Years at 2019 Conference with Keynote, Exhibits, and Awards Breakfast

The Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE) will hold its annual event from May 20-23 at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, N.C., U.S.

Marking its 75th anniversary, SAMPE will host a special celebration that includes opening keynote speaker, Dr. Greg Hyslop, chief technical officer at Boeing (Chicago, Ill., U.S.), technical paper presentations, tutorials and multiple exhibitions. The culmination will be an awards breakfast to recognize young professionals and outstanding technical content.

Hyslop will open the conference by sharing some of his perspectives on these innovation, exploration and scientific discovery, and on how the community represented within SAMPE can leverage and maximize such world-changing impacts in the coming years.

In addition to recognizing several young professionals, three technical paper awards winners will be announced:

• First place: Drexel University’s “Multiscale Approaches to Formation of Thermoplastic Prepreg Short Carbon Fiber”  

• Second place: Arevo Inc.’s “Reliable Optimized Structures with High Performance Continuous Fiber Thermoplastic Composites from Additive Manufacturing (AM)” 

• Third place: Boeing’s “Spring Frame Press Fabrication of Aerospace Production Components”

SAMPE also recently announced a strategic partnership with Boeing earlier this year.
