PVDF Fasteners & Custom Parts: High‑Purity, Chemically Resistant Solutions
PVDF
Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is a semi‑crystalline fluoropolymer sold under brands such as Kynar®, Hylar®, and Solef®. Its exceptional purity, chemical resistance, electrical performance, UV stability, and high‑temperature tolerance make it ideal for a broad range of industries.
Purity & Food‑Grade Compliance
PVDF’s ultra‑clean composition meets FDA food‑processing standards and is fully non‑toxic, making it the material of choice for food‑contact applications. Its high purity also eliminates particulates that can compromise photolithography, thereby boosting semiconductor yield.
Outstanding Chemical Resistance
PVDF resists mineral acids (HCl, HNO₃, H₂SO₄) and organic acids (lactic, citric) without degradation. It remains inert to aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons—including methane, propane, benzene, and toluene—as well as alcohols and halogenated solvents such as methylene chloride. However, it is not suitable for strong bases, esters, or ketones.
These properties drive its use in pumps, valves, fittings, sensors, and actuators across chemical processing and semiconductor manufacturing.
Electrical & Piezoelectric Performance
PVDF’s piezoelectric and pyroelectric effects enable high‑sensitivity transducers for sensors, laser beam profiling, and emerging battery technologies. It is increasingly incorporated into cathodes, anodes, and separator membranes in lithium‑ion cells.
Heat Tolerance & Fire Retardancy
With a UL94‑V0 flammability rating, PVDF is non‑flammable, non‑dripping, and self‑extinguishing. Its resistance to temperatures and harsh chemicals makes it suitable for power, renewable energy, and aerospace applications. In powder form, PVDF enhances high‑end paints, providing gloss, color retention, and chemical durability—evidenced by its use on the Taipei 101 façade.
UV Resistance
PVDF exhibits superior UV stability, ensuring long‑term performance in outdoor environments. Coatings containing PVDF deliver the industry’s highest UV tolerance.
