Lanxess Announces Legal Independence for High Performance Materials Unit to Drive Growth

Lanxess is preparing to separate its High Performance Materials (HPM) business unit into a standalone legal entity by mid‑2022. This restructuring is aimed at maximizing growth opportunities in the high‑performance plastics market.

HPM’s portfolio features engineering plastics such as Durethan nylon 6 and nylon 66, Pocan PBT, and Tepex thermoplastic fiber composites. These materials are integral to automotive, electrical, and electronics applications, with a particular focus on electromobility—where they are used for vehicle bodies, battery enclosures, and charging infrastructure.

With a fully integrated production chain, the unit employs roughly 1,900 professionals across 14 sites worldwide and generates sales in the low single‑digit billion‑euro range.
