Evonik Partners with Evolve Additive Solutions to Expand 3D Printing Materials for STEP Technology
Evonik, a global leader in specialty chemicals, has teamed up with Evolve Additive Solutions Inc. to develop a new suite of thermoplastic materials tailored for Evolve’s STEP (Selective Thermoplastic Electrophotographic Printing) additive manufacturing platform.
The collaboration will begin with key feedstocks—polyamide 12 (PA12), polyether block amide (PEBA), transparent polyamide, and the polyamide‑6 series—ensuring that STEP users have high‑performance options that match the quality of conventionally manufactured parts.
As the STEP process integrates seamlessly with traditional techniques such as injection molding, it expands production flexibility, delivering design freedom and reducing time‑to‑market without the need for dedicated tooling.
Currently in the alpha stage, the STEP technology is slated for commercial launch in late‑2020, positioning Evonik and Evolve at the forefront of next‑generation additive manufacturing.
