Neopolen P 9235+ – Enhanced EPP Foam for Superior Surface Quality and Impact Resistance
The Neopolen product line of expanded polypropylene foam (EPP) from BASF, headquartered in Florham Park, N.J., now includes a new grade that delivers superior surface performance and optimized filling behavior.
Neopolen P 9235+ – A Leap Forward
Neopolen P 9235+ builds on the proven Neopolen family, offering a 20 % increase in color depth, smoother surfaces, and reduced friction noise. These enhancements have been verified by laboratory testing that simulates human color perception using the CIE 1931 system, ensuring an objective, measurable improvement.
Applications that Benefit from Enhanced Properties
The black particle foam is ideal for high‑impact automotive parts—such as trunk liners, bumper cores, headrests, and armrests—as well as for dunnage trays and protective housings in heating, ventilation and air‑conditioning systems. Its low‑friction, impact‑absorbing nature also makes it suitable for insulation around heat exchangers and heating units.
Performance & Reliability
- High energy absorption with low weight
- Excellent static and dynamic resilience
- Consistent energy absorption after repeated impacts
- Resistance to chemicals and oils
- Low water uptake and thermal insulation
Neopolen P 9235+ is listed in the automotive industry’s material data system (IMDS) and is initially available in Europe. The grade is set to replace the legacy Neopolen P 9235 and will expand into a broader product family over time.
Foam particles are supplied in both packaged and bulk formats, allowing flexibility for manufacturers.
