Nexam Powers Diab’s High‑Performance PET Foam with Patented Nexamite PBP
Sweden’s Nexam Chemical, a leading developer of heat‑activated crosslinkers for plastics, has signed 2020‑2021 supply agreements with Diab Group’s U.S. office in DeSoto, Texas—one of the world’s top four high‑performance foam manufacturers. Since 2015, Nexam has supported Diab’s global production, collaborating on a joint R&D project that produced PET‑based foam cores for composite applications such as wind‑turbine blades, marine vessels, aircraft, railcars, buses, and building construction.
Nexam’s U.S.‑patented Nexamite PBP (phthalic anhydride and bioxazoline) multifunctional additive—used as a chain extender and crosslinker—has become an essential component of Diab’s PET foam line. CEO Johan Arvidsson said, ‘This partnership marks a pivotal milestone for Nexam Chemical. The collaboration and volumes generated are critical to our growth in performance chemicals, especially as the wind‑power market expands and PET usage in turbine blades is set to rise sharply.’
