Star Plastics and LATI Forge Strategic Alliance to Expand Specialty Engineered Compounds Distribution

Star Plastics, the custom‑compound leader based in Ravenswood, W.Va., has announced a global partnership with Italy’s LATI, a premier engineering thermoplastics compounder. The collaboration will broaden the availability of LATI’s high‑performance materials across North America, Europe, and Asia, while enhancing both companies’ specialty product portfolios.

“The alliance with LATI opens new opportunities for our customers and drives growth in markets where we already have a strong presence,” said Doug Ritchie, president and founder of Star Plastics.

The partnership is a strategic fit for Star Plastics’ North American and Asian customer base, spanning electrical, electronics, appliances, and other engineering‑grade plastic applications. LATI’s catalog—flame‑retardant, lubricated, antistatic, conductive, and other high‑performance grades—will now be offered through Star Plastics’ distribution channels. Complementary materials such as LATI’s glass‑ and carbon‑reinforced PBT, PP, and PEEK align seamlessly with Star Plastics’ PC, ABS, and PC‑alloy offerings.

“We identified Star Plastics as a perfect partner, sharing a commitment to customer‑centric innovation,” said Michela Conterno, CEO of LATI. “This agreement will expand our market reach, enhance global presence, and deliver LATI’s specialty compounds across the U.S. and Canada with the same quality and service excellence our brands are known for.”
