Next‑Generation Supersoft TPEs for High‑Performance Applications
Germany’s Kraiburg TPE, operating from its U.S. office in Buford, Ga., has introduced three cutting‑edge supersoft thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs). Designed to satisfy the stringent demands of orthopaedic devices, cycling accessories, cosmetic containers, and more, these compounds combine ultra‑soft touch with superior durability.
Developed from extensive customer feedback, the new Thermolast S series offers a skin‑like surface with a hardness range of 30–50 Shore 00 (45–70 VLRH). The exceptionally low hardness delivers a pleasant, compliant feel while the material’s minimal oil‑out tendency ensures reliable gel‑pad performance and efficient ejection during injection moulding.
Mechanically, the compounds excel, exhibiting excellent strength and an outstanding compression set at ambient temperatures. They are fully compatible with both injection moulding and additive manufacturing (3D printing), allowing rapid prototyping and high‑volume production alike.
All three TPEs carry the full suite of regulatory approvals:
- ISO 10993‑10 (skin irritation) – confirmed skin‑compatibility.
- EU Regulation 10/2011 & FDA – raw‑material compliance.
- REACH & RoHS – environmental safety.
- DIN EN 71‑3 – toy safety standard.
The standard offering is a translucent formulation; transparent variants are available with hardnesses as low as 25 VLRH. Granules are non‑sticky and can be custom‑colored on request, making them ideal for branding or product differentiation.
These supersoft TPEs can be adopted immediately in any application requiring a gentle, resilient material—whether it’s an orthopedic splint, a bicycle handle, or a cosmetic lid. For more technical data or to request samples, visit Kraiburg TPE’s product page.
