Clariant Expands Compostable Pigment Portfolio with Nine New OK Compost Industrial‑Certified Colors
Clariant’s pigment division has expanded its compostable color range, adding nine new pigments from the PV Fast and Graphtol lines that carry the OK Compost Industrial label.
These pigments fully comply with the European Union EN 13432:2000 standard when used within the maximum concentration limits specified for final applications.
The certification demonstrates Clariant’s commitment to sustainable packaging and supports the growing demand for compostable plastic articles.
To qualify for compostability, pigments must exhibit low heavy‑metal and fluorine content and be non‑toxic to plants. The PV Fast and Graphtol ranges are high‑performance organic powders that already find use in sensitive food‑contact packaging, plastic tableware, and toys.
“We are proud of this development, which is part of our strategy to offer solutions for more sustainable packaging and to strengthen our product portfolio,” said Andreas Buder, Clariant’s technical marketing manager for plastics. “This certification allows our customers to use bright colors in their biodegradable products, ensuring they are suitable for industrial composting.”
