MCAM Sets Ambitious Climate‑Positive Target: Climate Neutral by 2023, Climate‑Positive by 2030

Global manufacturer of high‑performance engineering thermoplastics, Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials (MCAM) – with its U.S. office in Mesa, Ariz. – has announced a decisive step toward a sustainable future. The company has pledged to become climate‑positive in its own operations by 2030, building on the milestone of achieving climate neutrality across its facilities by 2023.

MCAM’s strategy is underpinned by a rigorous 2020 gap analysis that examined every emission source within its operations. The findings enabled the company to set clear, measurable targets and a detailed roadmap that integrates emission reductions, high‑quality carbon credits, and active investment in carbon‑removal projects.

Of the 32 manufacturing and fabrication sites worldwide, 16 already operate on 100 % renewable electricity. Five of those sites have taken the extra step of offsetting any remaining emissions through certified carbon credits, illustrating MCAM’s commitment to tangible, verifiable action.

To accelerate its circular‑economy ambitions, MCAM has completed several strategic acquisitions. These include:

These acquisitions reinforce MCAM’s capability to recycle advanced polymers and carbon‑fiber waste, further cementing its leadership in sustainable manufacturing and closing the loop for the mobility industry.
