QNX 7.0 BSP Released for Toradex Colibri iMX8X Modules – Unlock Real‑Time Performance
Direct Insight has released a brand‑new board support package (BSP) that brings QNX 7.0 to the Toradex Colibri iMX8X computer‑on‑module. The package is ready to ship, enabling developers to tap into QNX’s proven real‑time capabilities on a high‑performance, low‑power ARM platform.
The BSP bundles all essential drivers for the Colibri iMX8X: Ethernet, Watchdog timer, I2C, SPI, USB, SD card, UART, and a forthcoming display driver. It is available as a free demo, and the source code can be licensed on a per‑project basis. Direct Insight also offers a premium services engagement that includes additional drivers, production‑hardening, and rigorous testing to meet industrial standards.

The Toradex Colibri iMX8X modules are powered by NXP’s i.MX 8X family, featuring the flagship i.MX 8QuadXPlus with four Cortex‑A35 cores – ARM’s most efficient ARM v8 core. The SoC delivers full 64‑bit ARM v8‑A support while remaining compatible with 32‑bit Armv7‑A binaries, with cores clocked up to 1.2 GHz.
“The BSP unlocks the full benefits of the QNX OS on the power‑efficient Toradex modules,” says David Pashley, Managing Director of Direct Insight. “QNX is perfect for real‑time, safety‑critical applications, and our BSP provides a robust starting point for high‑availability industrial designs.”
Daniel Lang, CMO at Toradex, adds: “We design products for applications that demand high reliability, safety, and security, such as medical devices. The QNX offering from Direct Insight further strengthens this positioning, allowing our customers to use QNX while reducing project risk and shortening time‑to‑market.”
