ST & YouTransactor Launch PCI‑Secure SoC Powering 50k+ Mobile Payment Terminals
STMicroelectronics and payment‑innovation partner YouTransactor have introduced the YTSECPCI, the first PCI‑secure System‑on‑Chip built on a general‑purpose microcontroller. The collaboration blends YouTransactor’s deep industry insight and proprietary security IP with ST’s chip‑design expertise, cyber‑protection, and advanced graphics control to deliver a robust, low‑power, cost‑effective solution for mobile point‑of‑sale (POS) devices.
Since its commercial launch last month, the YTSECPCI has been integrated into more than 50,000 payment terminals and already attracted orders exceeding one million units for the 2019‑2020 period, underscoring the retail sector’s demand for secure yet affordable payment hardware.
Designed as a fully integrated PCI kernel, the SoC incorporates every physical security mechanism mandated by PCI PTS—including mesh and switch monitoring, secure boot, tamper detection with data erasure, key management, and real‑time clock integrity. These features protect card data and PIN codes, ensuring transaction integrity and user privacy.
The chip supports both contact and contactless payment modes and is pre‑certified to PCI specifications, simplifying final product approval. Beyond mobile POS, the YTSECPCI is suitable for vending machines, IoT gateways, cash registers, smartphones, and other retail hardware.
Powered by ST’s STM32L4 microcontroller, the YTSECPCI delivers 100 DMIPS/273 CoreMark performance, multiple low‑power modes, ample on‑chip memory, and the Chrom‑ART Accelerator for high‑quality graphics. Engineers benefit from the comprehensive STM32 development ecosystem, including initialization tools, free middleware, and graphical IDEs available through the ST Partner program.
To accelerate development, ST and YouTransactor have released an evaluation board and reference design featuring the YTSECPCI. For more information and to discuss availability, please contact YouTransactor or your local ST sales office.
