Arbe Unveils 2K‑Resolution 4D Imaging Radar Platform for Tier‑1 OEMs

Arbe, a leading developer of 4D imaging radar chipsets, today announced the launch of its 2K‑resolution radar development platform, designed to empower tier‑1 suppliers, OEMs, and emerging mobility companies with advanced perception capabilities.

Arbe is working with more than 20 tier‑1 suppliers and OEMs across the United States, Europe, China, Korea, and Japan to build next‑generation radar systems on the new platform. The company projects that vehicles equipped with Arbe technology will hit the roads by 2022.

Existing commercial radars typically process 12 channels, while in‑development models aim for 192. Arbe’s chipset, however, delivers 2,304 (48×48) channels, delivering 2K ultra‑high resolution unmatched in the industry. This higher fidelity, coupled with robust object detection across all weather and lighting conditions, enables safer ADAS by reliably identifying vulnerable road users—pedestrians, cyclists, scooters—and static obstacles such as parked vehicles or construction zones. The system also dramatically reduces false alarms, allowing ADAS and AV platforms to trust radar readings with confidence.

CEO Kobi Marenko remarked, “Our technology has long shown the promise of elevating ADAS safety and delivering unrivaled perception for autonomous vehicles. With the launch of this development platform, that promise becomes tangible—our solution is already being integrated worldwide. This milestone positions Arbe ahead of the automotive radar industry.”

The platform also underpins advanced perception services, such as real‑time ego‑velocity estimation, lane‑level localization, and full‑field‑of‑view object tracking and classification. Post‑processing produces precise orientation and motion vectors for every detected target and generates high‑fidelity free‑space maps that clearly separate drivable from non‑drivable zones, regardless of weather or lighting.

At its core, the platform integrates Arbe’s full imaging radar chipset—48 transmitters and 48 receivers, totaling 2,304 channels—alongside a patented processor that handles 30 Gbps of raw data. The solution delivers ultra‑high resolution and can detect more than 100,000 objects per frame.

Leveraging advanced FMCW (frequency‑modulated continuous‑wave) operation, the chipset simultaneously transmits and receives from a dense array of antennas. Time‑to‑frequency conversion (FFT) yields a 4D image with exceptional azimuth and elevation resolution, while still offering long‑range, wide‑field‑of‑view sensing in real time. The design virtually eliminates sidelobes, resolves range‑Doppler ambiguities, and suppresses interference from neighboring radars.

Arbe’s proprietary mmWave automotive RFIC comprises a transmitter with 24 outputs and a receiver with 12 inputs. Built on the 22FDX FDSOI CMOS platform, the RFIC supports TD‑MIMO and delivers industry‑leading channel isolation, low noise figure, and high transmit power.

The system features the industry’s densest channel array, packaged in a compact form factor that conforms to existing automaker mounting and sizing constraints. It also bundles a hardware‑abstraction software layer and a reference design, simplifying radar integration for tier‑1 suppliers and OEMs.
