VersaLogic Unveils Rugged 8‑ and 12‑Core Grizzly Embedded Server for Edge and IoT

VersaLogic Unveils Rugged 8‑ and 12‑Core Grizzly Embedded Server for Edge and IoT
\n

VersaLogic Corp has expanded its Grizzly server-class family with new 8‑ and 12‑core Intel processor models.

\n

The Grizzly is a rugged embedded server unit (ESU) built for edge computing, network appliances, and IoT. It features an Intel 8, 12, or 16‑core processor, operates reliably from ‑40 °C to +85 °C, and offers dual 10 GbE SFP+ ports, four Gigabit Ethernet ports, up to 128 GB of ECC memory, and IPMI 2.0 management. Power consumption can be as low as 27.6 W, making it ideal for tight power budgets while delivering high data bandwidth.

\n

“The Grizzly’s capabilities make it perfect for local data gathering, processing, and storage where security, latency, or local cloud functionality is critical,” says Len Crane, President of VersaLogic. “With up to 16 cores and 128 GB of ECC memory, it fully supports hypervisors and multiple virtual machines.”

\n

Connectivity includes two SFP+ interface connectors supporting high‑speed 10 GbE, with plug‑in adapters for copper, short‑reach fiber, and long‑reach fiber. Additional features are POE Gigabit Ethernet ports, USB 3.0, digital I/O, SATA 3, and two mini‑PCIe sockets for on‑board expansion such as GPS modules.

\n

Measured at 110 × 155 × 50 mm, the Grizzly can accommodate up to 128 GB of error‑correcting memory, simplifying the deployment of large VMs and enabling full utilization of all 16 cores. The memory protects against single‑bit errors common in high‑altitude or space environments. IPMI out‑of‑band board management is supported, and an M.2 socket offers up to 2 TB of high‑speed SSD storage.

\n

Designed for long‑term availability (10+ year lifecycle) and tested for full industrial temperature operation, the Grizzly also meets MIL‑STD‑202H for high impact and vibration tolerance.

\n

VersaLogic offers customization options—conformal coating, revision locks, custom labeling, tailored testing, and screening—even in low OEM quantities.

\n

The Grizzly (VL‑ESU‑5070) is currently in stock at VersaLogic Corp. and Digi‑Key Corp. OEM pricing starts at $2,418.
