Badger Sheet Metal Works leverages plant capabilities for oversize tanks

Badger Sheet Metal Works has developed a reputation for excellence in delivering tank fabrication services that range from small-scale projects to towering behemoths for a wide range of industries. Depending on the end use, fabrication can require specialized expertise in materials such as stainless steel or heavy-duty production capabilities such as the 22-foot under-hook height and twin 15-ton cranes in Badger Sheet Metal Works’ main production bay.

“Few tank fabrication providers have the level of expertise in both stainless steel and various types of carbon steel that we feature with our workforce,” states Kenny Coe, director of sales at Badger Sheet Metal Works. “The variety of materials and sizes that our teams are capable of building gives us a leg up in the tank fabrication market.”

High-tech machinery aids in versatile tank fabrication

Logistical challenges such as highway overpasses provide some of the only limitations for Badger Sheet Metal Works when it comes to large tank fabrication and industrial dryer manufacturing projects. Holding tanks for water filtration systems and marine motor manufacturers, as well as the hydraulic tanks needed to operate mechanical arms in the forestry industry are common fabrication projects.

Badger Sheet Metal Works’ custom-built facility provides large size and custom configuration capabilities not found in many metal fabrication shops. Its teams use a CO2 laser for high-precision cuts up to ¾ of an inch thick on mild steel, ½ of an inch for stainless steel and ¼ of an inch for aluminum, and its waterjet can handle materials up to 4 inches thick.

“There are very few fabrication projects that fall outside of our capabilities,” Coe says. “We have made the investments in production capabilities and workforce development that are necessary to become a premier tank fabrication source.”
