Avient Expands Recycled‑Content TPE Portfolio for Global Overmolding Applications

Avient, based in Avon Lake, Ohio, is broadening its reSound R line of post‑industrial (PIR) and post‑consumer recycled (PCR) thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) for overmolding. The expanded portfolio now serves footwear, consumer electronics, personal care, and more.

In North America, the company introduces a new reSound R grade designed for PC, ABS, and PC/ABS overmolding. This variant contains 30 % PIR and an 80 Shore A hardness, making it ideal for durable consumer‑electronics housings such as phone cases.

In Asia, the reSound R family now includes three PIR grades (20‑60 % recycled content) for PC, ABS, and PC/ABS overmolding, and seven PCR grades (9‑39 % recycled food‑packaging) for overmolding onto PP.

In Europe, Avient offers new patent‑pending grades that combine recovered PP, recycled oil, and recycled glass filler, achieving over 80 % recycled content. These TPEs are available in 30, 50, and 70 Shore A hardness levels and match the performance of prime grades, making them suitable for overmolding onto PP in lawn & garden, outdoor high‑performance, personal care, footwear, office supplies, housewares, and automotive applications.

Matt Mitchell, Global Marketing Director for Avient’s Specialty Engineered Materials, said: “With our customers’ growing focus on circularity, we’ve leveraged innovative local recycling streams to expand our sustainability portfolio and help partners meet their goals.”
