New M‑Vera PLA Compounds: Compost‑Certified, 100% Renewable Materials for Extrusion & Thermoforming
Bio‑Fed, a leading German compounder under Akro‑Plastic GmbH, has expanded its M‑Vera line with three new PLA‑based, biodegradable compounds tailored for extrusion and thermoforming in cosmetic, food, and non‑food packaging.
All three grades—GP4001, GP4003, and GP4005—are certified OK compost Industrial (EN 13432) and feature renewable content ranging from 50% to nearly 100%, with select grades offering clear, transparent finishes.
Designed for rigid packaging, these materials boast a homogeneous wall‑thickness profile that simplifies extrusion and thermoforming. Mechanical properties are comparable to conventional plastics, and the compounds can be integrated into multilayer structures to enhance mechanical, optical, or barrier performance.
Initial testing shows GP4001 excels in producing thermoformed coffee capsules, while GP4003 and GP4005 provide versatile options for broader applications.
