Hydraulic Institute Honors Weir Specialty Pumps VP Thomas L. Angle as 2009 Member of the Year

The Hydraulic Institute awarded Thomas L. Angle, Vice President of Product Engineering at Weir Specialty Pumps, the 2009 Member of the Year title during its 93rd Annual Meeting Gala in Marco Island, Florida.

Angle was selected by the HI Board of Directors for his extensive commitment to the Institute and for driving key technical initiatives. He served as co‑chair of the Pump Piping Committee that produced the industry‑leading standard Rotodynamic Pumps – Pump Piping Standard (ANSI/HI 9.6.6), a reference now used worldwide.

Gregg Romanyshyn, HI Technical Director, praised Angle: “Tom’s contributions to the Hydraulic Institute have been invaluable. He consistently offers sound ideas that help advance the often arduous standards development process, and his leadership across volunteer committees has enabled HI to deliver critical reference information, education, and programs that benefit the global pump industry.”

Angle’s leadership extends beyond the Pump Piping Committee. He has chaired the Standards Committee, Section Chairs Committee, and Viscosity Correction Committee, and has served on the Technical Affairs Steering Committee, Joint CPS/VPS Test Standards Committee, Variable Speed Operations Work Group, Slurry Pump Committee, Life Cycle Cost Committee, and many others. Additionally, he is a member of the DOE Advisory Group on the Pump Systems Assessment Tool (PSAT), a certified PSAT instructor, and a member of the Submersible Pump Manufacturers Association (SWPA).

The Hydraulic Institute’s mission is to facilitate the exchange of industry knowledge while delivering value‑added services, including the development of comprehensive standards. For more information about HI, its members, and its partners, visit www.Pumps.org and www.PumpLearning.org.
