SECO Unveils SM‑B71: Xilinx Zynq Ultrascale+ MPSoC‑Based Heterogeneous Processing Module

During Embedded World 2024, SECO introduced the SM‑B71, a SMARC‑2.0 compliant module built around the Xilinx Zynq Ultrascale+ MPSoC. The module is designed to simplify integration while delivering robust real‑time processing, multi‑Gbps transceivers, and advanced H.264/H.265 video encoding/decoding capabilities. With support for up to 256 K logic cells, the SM‑B71 offers unparalleled scalability for demanding embedded applications.

The SM‑B71 houses Xilinx Zynq Ultrascale+ CG/EG/EV MPSoCs in a compact C784 package. Two product variants are available, each featuring up to four ARM Cortex‑A53 cores for general‑purpose processing and a dual‑core ARM Cortex‑R5 real‑time engine. Graphics are handled by an integrated ARM Mali‑400 MP2 GPU, running at 667 MHz and supporting OpenGL ES 1.1/2.0, OpenVG 1.0/1.1, and native H.264/H.265 video decoding. Connectivity is extensive: PCI‑e ×4, two Gigabit Ethernet ports, two CAN‑Bus interfaces, two SPI buses, and twelve GPIOs. The module comes with 8 GB + 2 GB DDR4 memory soldered onto the board.

Its versatile architecture makes the SM‑B71 ideal for automotive electronics, avionics, biomedical and medical devices, industrial automation, IoT, robotics, telecommunications, and visual computing platforms.
