X2CrNiN23-4 (EN 10088-1) – Solution-Annealed Grade for Pressure Vessels & Pipeline Applications
The patented steel X2CrNiN23-4 (acc. to VdTÜV-material specification 496 : 2001-09: X 2 CrNiN 23 4), material number 1.4362 is acc. to VdTÜV-Wbl 496 : 2001-09 used for pressure vessels as per TRB 100 and AD-data sheets W 2 and W 10 for pipelines and pipeline components acc. to TRR, TRbF and TRGL, for pressure gas tanks as per TRG each from -40 to 280 °C. For application in nuclear power engineering are required individual certificates or additional expertises as far as this is stated in nuclear rules or object-related specifications. The steel is suitable for pressure devices acc. to EG-Directive 97/23/EG (allowing for paragraph 4 appendix I). Welding suitability of the steel is examined allowing for generally accepted engineering rules for the following welding methods: metal inert gas welding, metal arc welding and submerged welding. The working temperature during the welding shouldnt exceed 120 degrees. An heat-treating afte the welding isnt necessary. This material is cold and warm formable. X2CrNiN23-4 tends to 475 °C.-embrittlement. Short-term overstepping of the upper application temperature limit of 280 °C. to max. 300 °C. is allowable. After an running time of over 5000 h at 300 degrees an decrease of the notch impact energy is possible. The material is well resistant to stress corrosion and intercrystalline corrosion (also in sensitized condition). Well resistant to general corrosion and pitting corrosion. To the material acc. to DIN EN 10088 : 1995-08 applies: X2CrNiN23-4 is a stainless duplex steel with high strength and hardness. Application for leightweight constructions with longer durability and higher reliability, such as heat exchanger and pipelines in chloride containing media, hydraulic pipes, feeder water pre-heater, agitator shafts, steam heating systems. The material may be used acc. to DIN EN 10095 : 1999-05 as heat resistant steel.
