EN 10088‑1 X3CrNb17 Soft‑Annealed Grade (+A): Premium Ferritic Steel for Boiler Applications
Material X 8 CrNb 17 (X3CrNb17), mat. number 1.4511 is acc. to VdTÜV-Wbl 422 : 2001-06 used for design certificated pocket boilers and helical tubes for boilers of the Viessmann Werke KG, Allendorf, with a max. material temperature of 200 °C. To the material acc. to DIN EN 10088-1 : 1995-08 applies: trademark X3CrNb17 is comparable to X 6 CrNb 17 nach DIN 17441 : 1985-07 (here higher C-content!). This material is a ferritic steel with the same corrosion properties as 1.4510. It shows increased stress corrosion resistance in bases and low chloride containing water. It is largely resistant in water, steam, weak acids and bases as well as in oxidizing acids. Resistance to intercrystalline corrosion both in delivery and welded condition. The steel is suitable for mirror finishing. Application for welded components in washing machines (alkaline tank) and in chemical apparatus engineering (weak acids), in dairy, food, brewery, dyeing and soap industry. In construction trade X3CrNb17 is used for decorative components to be welded in interior design, such as racks, frames, interior decoration elements. A metallic clean surface is a basic requirement for good corrosion resistance.
