Ascend Acquires Poliblend and Esseti Plast, Expanding Global Engineered Plastics Portfolio

Houston-based Ascend Performance Materials, the world's leading fully integrated producer of nylon‑66 resins, has completed its acquisition of two Italian specialists, Poliblend and Esseti Plast. The deal expands Ascend’s product range to include engineered plastics, recycled resins and masterbatches.

The acquisition includes a manufacturing facility in Mozzate, Italy—Ascend’s second European plant—and brings in Esseti Plast GD’s masterbatch portfolio and Poliblend’s engineering plastics line, featuring virgin and recycled grades of nylon‑66, nylon‑6, PBT and acetal (POM) resins. Giancarlo D’Ottavio, Poliblend’s president, has joined Ascend’s European management team and will continue to oversee Poliblend’s operations.

Founded in 1999, Poliblend offers compounding and masterbatch services, including color and additive concentrates that enhance the performance of plastics, packaging and fibers. The company holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO TS 16949 certifications. The deal also adds Poliblend Deutschland, a distribution hub in Germany.

“This acquisition, coupled with our new compounding facility in China, will let us serve customers locally around the globe,” said Ascend President and CEO Phil McDivitt. “We now have production, product development and testing capabilities in North America, Asia and Europe, giving us the scale to respond quickly to market shifts. A product developed for a European customer can be replicated and produced worldwide to meet evolving supply‑chain needs.”
