ADI Launches ADM2867E: Integrated Isolated RS‑485 Transceiver with DC/DC Converter for Space‑Saving Applications
Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) has unveiled the ADM2867E series—reinforced iCoupler isolated RS‑485+ transceivers that integrate a low‑EMI DC/DC converter. By eliminating the need for an external isolated supply, the devices reduce board complexity and save space—ideal for tight‑fit applications.
Targeted at RS‑485 data bus networks, the ADM2867E supports data rates up to 25 Mbit/s. Its versatility makes it suitable for HVAC control, industrial field buses, building automation, utility networks, and smart energy meters.
Built on the iCoupler architecture, the transceivers feature smart diagnostics that streamline installation and debugging, allowing engineers to quickly spot and correct wiring errors.
The 5.7‑kV RMS isolated full‑duplex RS‑485/RS‑422 transceiver offers an 8‑mm creepage and clearance, ensuring low radiated emissions. It satisfies EN55032 (CISPR 32) Class B standards with a comfortable margin on a two‑layer board without stitching capacitance. The iCoupler digital isolation and IEC 61000‑4‑2 ESD protection provide robust signal integrity in harsh environments.
Additional features include configurable supply rails down to low voltages for seamless interfacing with FPGAs and microprocessors, Profibus support via a 5‑V isolated supply, and an operating temperature range from −40 °C to +105 °C.
Both the ADM2867E full‑duplex and the ADM2561E half‑duplex variants are available in a 28‑lead, fine‑pitch SOIC (10.15 × 10.05 mm). Pricing stands at $6.99 for the full‑duplex and $5.28 for the half‑duplex in 1,000‑piece lots. Samples and a comprehensive evaluation kit are also on hand.
