TDK Unveils InvenSense T3902: The Lowest‑Power PDM Microphone for Wearables and IoT

TDK Unveils InvenSense T3902: The Lowest‑Power PDM Microphone for Wearables and IoTTDK Corp. has introduced the InvenSense T3902, the industry’s most energy‑efficient pulse‑density‑modulation (PDM) microphone designed for mobile, IoT, and other consumer electronics.

The low‑noise, multi‑mode bottom‑port MEMS microphone pulls a current of just 185 µA in its ultra‑low‑power mode and 12 µA while sleeping. Its Always‑On capability in low‑power mode means the device is ready for immediate activation without a wake‑up delay.

With a 3.5 mm × 2.65 mm × 0.98 mm package, the T3902 fits seamlessly into wearables, tablets, smart TVs, remote controls, and more. Key performance figures include a 64.5 dB signal‑to‑noise ratio, a 120 dB acoustic overload point, and a frequency response from 36 Hz to beyond 20 kHz. The microphone’s far‑field sensitivity delivers clear audio for video calls and phone conferences even in noisy settings.

Power efficiency is critical for wearable and IoT devices where board space and battery life are limited. TDK highlights that the T3902 enables a compact, low‑power Always‑On architecture that extends battery life without compromising sound quality.

The InvenSense T3902 is available through TDK’s global distributors. It is compatible with both Sn/Pb and Pb‑free soldering processes and meets RoHS/WEEE compliance. For detailed specifications, visit TDK InvenSense.
