VadaTech’s FMC258: 12‑Channel FPGA Mezzanine (VITA 57.4, FMC+) with MTP/MPO Fiber, Ultra‑Low Jitter Clocks, Full‑Duplex Transceivers
VadaTech has unveiled the FMC258, a cutting‑edge FPGA mezzanine module that complies with the VITA 57.4 (FMC+) standard. It integrates a single board‑mount optical assembly, delivering 12 full‑duplex transceivers with Clock Data Recovery (CDR). The front‑panel fiber I/O uses MTP/MPO connectors, supporting both 10.6 Gb/s and 28.1 Gb/s per channel with multi‑rate capability. At 10.6 Gb/s the module can transmit over 100 m of OM3 multimode fiber, while 28.1 Gb/s performance is achieved over 100 m of OM4 multimode fiber.
The FMC258 features an onboard Ultra‑Low Jitter Clock Generator with two independent fractional PLLs, enabling synchronization to either an external clock source or the module’s internal reference. Six clock signals are routed to the GBT pins on the FMC+ connector, and two additional clocks are available on CLK0 and CLK1, providing eight dedicated clock outputs in total. For diagnostics and user‑defined signaling, the module includes 16 LEDs (green/yellow) that can indicate link/activity, support debugging, or serve custom functions.
