EN 10088-1 X3CrTi17 Soft Annealed (+A): Premium Stainless Steel for High‑Temperature, High‑Pressure Tubing
Acc. VdTÜV material data sheet 494 : 1996-06 the stainless ferritic steel X 6 CrTi 17, mat. no. 1.4510, is used for longitudinal welded tubes for pressure vessels acc. TRB 100 and AD data sheet W 2 at operating temperatures from - 10 to 280 °C. and pressures up to 50 bar and for type approved hot water boiler up to 100 °C. The weldability is examined allowing for the generally accepted engineering rules for inert arc welding without filler or with wire electrode and for seam welding. Preheating is mostly not necessary, the intermediate layer temperature amounts to max. 200 °C. An heat treatment after the welding is unusual. Longitudinal welded tubes have to recrystallising annealed. The material is also in the welded condition resistant against intercrystalline corrosion. For the material acc. DIN EN 10088-1 : 1995-08 applies: The mark X3CrTi17 is comparable to X 6 CrTi 17 (here higher C-content). This material is a ferritic steel with comparable general corrosion properties like 1.4016. It is widely resistant in water, steam, weak acids and bases as well as in oxidizing acids. The steel shows increased stress corrosion resistance in hot bases, low chloride containing water. No risk of intercrystalline corrosion after welding due to Ti-addition, but it is therefore unsuitable for mirror finishing. Application for welded parts in washing machines (lye tanks) and partly in chemical apparatus engineering (weak acids), in dairy, food, brewery, dyeing and soap industry.
