GE Secures $116M, 5-Year Service Partnership with TVA to Enhance Power Plant Reliability
GE has entered a five‑year, $116 million service alliance with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), the nation’s largest public power provider. The partnership will strengthen TVA’s four key plants, ensuring long‑term reliability, heightened efficiency, and cost‑effective operation of its power generation assets.
Under the agreement, GE Energy Services will deliver comprehensive support for 24 planned outages across TVA’s Brown’s Ferry nuclear plant and the fossil‑steam facilities at Paradise, Bull Run, and Widow’s Creek. A dedicated core team—comprising seasoned field experts—will be on site to guide outage planning, execution, and rapid response to any project‑specific needs. Senior managers from both GE and TVA will jointly oversee the alliance’s implementation.
“The agreement enables GE to focus on proactive outage planning and resourcing well before each project begins,” said Anne McEntee, GE Energy Services’ general manager of power services. “This proactive approach keeps TVA within budget, delivers reliable and predictable outages, and ultimately drives higher operational efficiency.”
The alliance is structured to foster a seamless collaboration, with both parties acting as one entity to meet TVA’s strategic objectives. Their shared mission is to elevate turbine‑generator fleet performance through risk‑reward sharing, process innovation, new technology adoption, and optimized outage management.
“We’re honored that TVA has chosen us to support this critical component of their operations,” said Barry Weiss, GE Energy Southern Region executive. “By working closely together, we can significantly reduce the risk of unplanned outages and safeguard TVA’s business continuity.”
GE’s long‑term service agreements cover parts supply, repairs, and field services for both planned and unplanned turbine‑generator and auxiliary equipment outages, backed by performance guarantees. These agreements are designed to give customers predictable maintenance costs while ensuring a stable revenue stream from plant operations. To date, GE has secured long‑term service contracts at more than 600 sites worldwide.
TVA supplies power to large industries and power distributors that serve approximately 9 million consumers across seven southeastern U.S. states.
