Infineon, Xilinx & Xylon Launch logiHSSL IP Core for High‑Speed Safety Microcontroller Integration

Infineon Technologies, in partnership with Xilinx and Xylon, announced the logiHSSL IP core at Embedded World 2019. This low‑pin interface unlocks high‑speed serial communication between Infineon's safety‑certified AURIX TC2xx and TC3xx microcontrollers and Xilinx's SoC, MPSoC, and FPGA families.

The HSSL operates at baud rates up to 320 Mbaud, delivering a net payload rate of approximately 84 %. The interface requires only five pins—two LVDS pairs and a single clock line—making it both cost‑effective and pin‑efficient. Traditionally used for exchanging data between AURIX devices and custom ASICs, the new core expands that capability to Xilinx devices, enabling mutual access to internal and external resources.

With the logiHSSL, system designers can combine the proven safety and security features of AURIX microcontrollers with the extensive functional versatility of Xilinx hardware. This synergy is ideal for automotive, industrial, and other safety‑critical applications that demand rapid data transfer and robust protection.

To accelerate development, the partners offer a starter kit comprising a Xilinx evaluation board, an Infineon AURIX evaluation board, and a Xylon FMC board. The kit includes a reference design, test software, Xylon’s logicBRICKS evaluation licenses, comprehensive documentation, and dedicated technical support.
