Die Casting Explained: Principles, Types, and Industrial Applications

Today I will be discussing on working principle of die casting and the applications of die casting. Previously, I examined different types of die casting. if you can recall in the article, hot chamber and cold chamber were mentioned. These are ways of manufacturing parts in die casting. They will be our main focus in this article.

Working principle of die casting

Die casting is carryout firstly by spraying a mold cavity with a release agent to ensure easy and successful removal of the casting. molten metal is poured into a casting chamber, which is connected to the mold cavity. piston here plays an important role by pressing liquid metal into a part call channel. Die casting with series of mold contains series of channels connected to them. At this point, casting solidifies under high pressure and removes. This principle is to carry out the same way on hot and cold chamber types of die casting. please try to know them.

Step by step process;

The video below will help you to have a clear view of the die casting working principle:

Applications of die casting

As die casting is used for large series of production, its applications in many industries such as aerospace, domestic appliances, furniture, power tools, electronics, machinery, lighting technology, etc.

Die casting is also applicable in automotive industries in producing wheels, blocks, cylinder heads, valves, and manifolds.

That’s all for this article, where the working of die casting is being explained. I hope you got a lot from the reading, if so, kindly share with other students. Thanks for reading, see you next time!
